Williamsville Central School District UPK
Hosted at Williamsville EduKids and CrossPoint EduKids
Welcome to UPK at EduKids Williamsville & CrossPoint Centers! We are excited to be starting another year of UPK with Williamsville Central Schools. We look forward to getting to know you and your child.
Our program is developmentally appropriate and child-centered, with a strong focus on early literacy and mathematics. Our goals are to develop your child’s self-esteem and confidence in learning, socialization, and language development, small and large motor control, listening, and following directions. We strive to provide a strong foundation for your child’s educational success.
Given our hybrid schedule, children will be on site two days per week for UPK. While on site, your child will be learning with a combination of hands-on activities, song and dance, games, discussion, and small group centers while maintaining physical distance and adhering to health and safety protocols as recommended by NYS Department of Health. Your child will need the following for their in-class days:
- A face covering/mask
- A water bottle labelled with first and last name
- A complete change of clothes (In a ziplock bag, labeled with your child’s first and last name.)
When your child is scheduled for remote learning, you will be provided with remote learning opportunities via Google Classroom to be completed when convenient for your family.
Since you are your child’s first teacher and our partner in your child’s success, we would like you to know that we are always available to answer questions or address concerns you may have throughout the year. We will communicate with you in many ways throughout the year including:
- Connect App for daily reports, photos, and activity progress updates
- A monthly pacing calendar sent out via email/Connect
- Google Classroom messages and assignments
- Parent Teacher conferences (virtual or physically distanced)
- Frequent phone/email check ins to discuss progress, support, and resources for positive experiences during in classroom and remote learning
We are looking forward to a wonderful year of UPK together! Your child will learn, play, and discover the world around them through engaging activities, both in person and remotely. Here are some other important reminders for your child’s safety and well-being while attending UPK at EduKids:
- Drop Off and Pick Up: Parents and guardians will drop off and pick up their children at the door of the center. A staff member will take your child’s temperature and escort him/her to the classroom.
- Masks: UPK students are required to wear a mask while on site during UPK hours. Staff will provide staggered mask breaks for the children.
- Snacks: Snacks are provided by EduKids. We are a peanut-free facility and cannot allow any outside food. If you would like to bring something special for your child’s birthday, it MUST be a nonfood item.
- Absences: You must provide a written excuse for your child’s absence for the district. Excuses should include your child’s name, his/her teacher’s name, the date, and the reason for the absence.
- Footwear: Each day, please send your child in sneakers. Dress shoes, flip flops, and sandals are unsafe when your child is on the playground. We will be going outside each day, weather permitting.
- School Closings: Our UPK classroom follows the Williamsville Central Schools calendar and snow day procedures. If the district is closed, there is no UPK that day. EduKids, however, typically remains open and running as usual. Please do not hesitate to call the center in case of confusion.
- Medications: Please notify the director immediately if your child has lifesaving medications. If lifesaving medication is needed to remain on sight, proper documentation will need to be filled out by the child’s physician. This information will be provided by the director.
- Allergies: Please notify the director immediately if your child has any allergies.
Please do not hesitate to call if you have any questions or concerns about UPK. We can be reached at the Williamsville center at (716) 631-1993 and at the CrossPoint Center at (716) 568-1141, Monday through Friday.
